4 more days until Spring Break!
* Keep reading your Humphrey book and doing the questions. We had another winner from our class today. On Thursday we will have an assembly to celebrate the end of the book with some great prizes!
* Next Wednesday the 17th we have spring pictures.
* Also, Marco's Pizza Box night for 2nd grade is TUESDAY, April 16th! Flyers are coming home today.
* Monday we will take our final MAP testing.
We jumped right into Topic 15- Shapes. Students need to be able to identify triangles (3), quadrilaterals (4), pentagons (5) and hexagons (6). The definition of a polygon is a 3 or more sided shape that is closed and is made of straight lines. The number of sides = the number of vertices= the number of angles. Next week we will explore 3-D shapes and partitioning shapes (i.e. fractions).
We will finish up this week's essential question of How do we protect the Earth? next week. Our stories this week included trash can be made into something beautiful and how one tree can be used to better a community. Vocabulary included curious, rarely, enormous and Earth resources. Our skill was identifying the problem and solution. We went on a Easter egg hunt to find match problems with solutions. One problem that we are still looking for a solution to is making our class be quiet! The vocabulary strategy for the week was homophones.
Enjoy the warmer temperatures!
