The picture above is a couple of the students reading in our tent! This week feels like we are really getting into a rhyme and routine! We conquered our Topic 1 math assessment with flying colors! We jumped right into Topic 2 which is evens, odds and arrays. Oh, my! The students LOVE arrays as that is the first step towards MULTIPLICATION! This is a short topic with only 5 lessons so we will be finishing the Topic next week. Look for the review to come next Thursday. It will be due the following Monday with the test on Tuesday, September 29th. September is FLYING by!
In FUNdations, we learned that the letters "m" and "n" are nasal sounds. Just try and pinch your nose and say those sounds. It is not possible. This is why we glue the "n" and "m" to make the -ng and -nk word families. Our story this week was a non-fiction book. We discussed all of the different non-fiction features such as captions, photographs, glossary, heading and charts. We went on a hunt and found them throughout our book. During centers, we made our own non-fiction books! We celebrated Constitution Day and had a lesson in healthy eating! Some brave students tasted a spinach smoothie to discover that it was DELICIOUS! We also enjoyed the start of our guidance classes. Mrs. Speier read the book Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon and we had our first Camper of the Week. It is exciting to see what objects the students choose to represent themselves.

Simply go to http://www.ptcfast.com/schools/Redwood_Elementary and you will be able to sign up for a time slot for one or all of
your children that attend Redwood. The website will open for live sign-up
at 9:00 A.M. on Friday, September 18th and will close Friday October 2nd,
2015. If you have questions about the sign up process please do not
hesitate to contact your child's teacher. If you do not have internet
access, please send a note to your child’s teacher and a time will be scheduled
for you. There is NO SCHOOL
for students on October 5th.
