Week of February 13th

The Wax Museum was AMAZING! The students did GREAT! The costumes made their individuals come to life. I am so proud of the students for standing and presenting their reports to SO many friends and families! Thanks for being a part!

Topic 8 Assessment will be on Wednesday the 22nd. The review is due back on Tuesday. Then, we will jump into Topic 9- Numbers to 1,000. Students will be learn to read and write numbers in the 1,000's. This topic includes the concept of place value and writing numbers using expanded, standard and word form. Skip counting and comparing numbers will also be learned. Students will use math reasoning to solve place value story problems.

Our comprehension skill for the week was theme- the lesson of a story. Themes including not judging people by how they look, always telling the truth and taking care of the Earth. This is a difficult skill as it is more abstract and feeling based than text-based. The genre in which we practiced the skill was folktales and dramas. The tales about nature described how the sun & moon got in the sky, why a beetle has many color and why a finch is colorful. Students were assigned parts of the drama and read for different characters.
