It has been a chocolate extravaganza! Students are LOVING reading The Chocolate Touch at home and school. Here at school, we have decorated our door with coins with each student's initials just like the coin John found on the street. We also watched a video on how chocolate is made, compared The Chocolate Touch to The Golden Touch. Hershey Kisses were also enjoyed! The chocolate fun will continue next week! Also, next week is Read Across America week- a celebration of Dr. Seuss. Every day we will be reading in different places with classmates, friends and the school!
We have completed Unit 4 of Wonders. Our genre for the week was poetry with poems about nature including rain and wind. Students worked on creating acrostic poems to describe nature and themselves! With poetry, students practice repetition and alliteration. Next week, will be a review week with practicing and applying all skills taught during Unit 4.
Topic 8- Time & Money is complete! I am glad we took our time with this topic and students had the opportunity to become secure with these life skills. We will continue to review these skills the remainder of the year. Topic 9 is Numbers to 1,000. We jumped right in this week and started with the first lesson. Also, we are working on a Benchmark Assessment that shows what students have learned from all Topics 1-8.
