Students completed and were assessed on Topic 11. Topic 12 is Measuring Length. Your child will be learning different ways to measure length. This topic focuses on estimating and measuring the length of objects to the nearest inch, foot, and yard, as well as to the nearest centimeter and meter. At home, start to talk about the length of objects students use on a daily basis like toothbrush and book bag. Students learned that the length of their thumb is about an inch and the distance from their elbow to their fingers is about a foot. We will continue this unit after spring break.

We are wrapping up Unit 5 of Wonders. Our essential question was How can we protect Earth? Students learned how trash can become treasures. In writing, we are continuing comparative writing with describing how crabs and turtles are alike and different. Mrs. Janis needs just one more day for students to complete their habitat Google Slides. Students will be sharing their final project with the class after the break. In class, we are completing the food chains and murals. We are starting our economics unit in which we will learn about financing (i.e.- spending, giving & saving), needs & wants and consumers & producers.

Our field trip is the Wednesday after the break, April 26th. Students will need to bring a 100% disposable;e lunch including the bag (no lunchboxes). Also, there is a gift shop at the museum but no purchases are to be made. The Glow Walk is Friday, April 28th. Don't miss out on taping Mr. Ebrt to the wall!

Next week, we have only 4 days before the start of Spring Break!

Thanks,
Marissa Wilhelm
