Week of May 1st
We have 19 days until the end of school! WOW! Our final science unit for the year will be weather. As a introduction activity, Channel 19 meteorologist Jon Loufman visited us. He taught us about happy high front and lousy low fronts. Students learned about the tools used to determine weather conditions including an anemometer and barometer. They also learned that many weather related words are of Greek origin. On Wednesday, we attend a concert put on by the Avon Lake orchestra and band. It was FANTASTIC! They performed music from The Little Mermaid, Pirates of the Caribbean, Wizard of Oz and Grease. Students were dancing in their seats! Thank you Mrs. Orr for putting the trip together!
In Envisions we took 2 assessments this week! On Monday, we took the Topic 12 Measurement and today, Topic 13. Topic 13 was a continuation of measuring. Topic 14 is Data & Graphs. In this topic, students will learn about bar graphs, line plots, and picture graphs, and how to draw conclusions, make predictions, and solve problems. Our Wonders stories this week week were all about energy! We learned how energy is used and the forms of energy including wind, water and solar. In social studies, we started our Me On A Map packet. Students drew a picture of their room and the community of Avon Lake. What students LOVED most was when we looked up our houses on Google Maps! It was pretty neat!
Happy May!
