Next week is the official end of summer and it is supposed to be 80 all week! That's Cleveland weather for you!
Topic One is complete! I have the assessments graded and I will send them home by mid-week. I want to try and review some problems with students. If a student struggled with the topic, look for some review opportunities coming home. We will be back to addition and subtraction again soon but Topic 2 is Working With Equal Groups. In this topic, students will learn about equal groups and how to use arrays to find sums. This is the foundation of multiplication. Also in the topic, students will identify even and odd numbers, and show whether or not they can be divided into two equal parts. This is a quick 5 lesson unit but we will take a little bit of time with it as there are some fun activities to help practice arrays.
In Social Studies, we continue to learn and practice Citizenship including rules and responsibilities. We dug a little deeper into our class rules to allow help us memorize them them and put them into action! We will continue with Social Studies but also start our first science unit of Force & Motion. On Wednesday, October 4th we will be going to the ALPL for a Force & Motion field trip. We will leave at 12:45 and can take a few parent volunteers so let me know if you are available.
