Thanks to the dads, grandpas, uncles, brothers and friends who came to Donuts With Dad! The students wore big smiles all day after spending time with you in the morning and the donuts!
This week was disability awareness week and it was a good week! Thank you to Mrs. Fazio and the team for putting on great events all week long. The theme was It's Okay To Be Me! We ended this week with a powerful assembly with Elyria High School Sign Choir. The members signed the songs and our students got to join in!

We completed Topic 9 in Envisions. We are going to test Monday so we have the test done before break. A little different than usual, we completed the review in class. Students worked on it independently and then we reviewed it. Students are bringing home the graded sheet. Please look it over and review any of the missed problems.

Our essential question for the week was How do people get along? Our stories included getting along with friends, siblings (!!!) and bullies. It takes a community to create change but it can get done and children are an important part of it! We are writing fictional narratives and are learning how dialogue is a necessary part when characters are speaking. We used macaroni noodles to help us practice quotation marks.

Students got their habitat groups. Next week, they will begin to research their habitats. The project will include a food chain, mural and Google Slide presentation. All completed here at school:) We read the ABC's Of Habitats and learned about items from grasslands to harming of habitats to kelp forests.

While only 4 days next week before the break, there is A LOT happening!

* Monday afternoon we have the Jump Rope for Hearts event from 2 to 3.
* Wednesday we will be attending Redwood's Spelling Bee for the 3rd and 4th graders. This allows the students to see the event as they will have an opportunity to be a part of it next year.
* Thursday will be our March Pride Assembly in combination with the end of this year's One District, One Book. It feels like we just started with the book and it is already over.
Remember, spring break start next Friday.

Thanks,
Marissa Wilhelm
