In our last week of Unit 4, poetry was the genre used to teach the essential question What excited us about nature? Vocabulary for the week included alliteration, free verse and similes. Similes are comparison of two unlike things using the words like or as. Examples from our poetry included leaves are like a blanket on the ground and the air feels as cool as drops of rain on your cheek. Our grammar skills for the week included contractions and pronouns.

In writing, we began fictional narratives. Fictional narratives are stories that have characters, setting and events. The characters communicate through dialogue which means the introduction of "quotation marks". This week was Ms. Hamker's last week helping us with writing. We are thankful for her time with us and she leaves us being better writers and being to edit our work.

We began our introduction to our science habitat unit. The science standard is Living things function and interact with their physical environments. Students read book to introduce what a habitat is and what it needs to provide for plants and animals.
