No School Monday and Halloween is on Wednesday. The parade will start around 9:10 and usually gets to our room by 9:25ish. Students should ARRIVE to school in their costumes. Also, they will need to change after so they need to wear clothes under their costume if possible or have a change of clothes. Masks are allowed but no weapons. We have Innovation room at 10 so our party will be at 11. Please join in for some spooky fun!

Students are bringing home the Topic 4 review. We will test next Friday, November (!!!!) 2nd. The review is due back on Thursday, 11/1. Here is the answer key. Our essential question for the week was what can animals in stories teach us? Our genre was fables so we read stories that had a moral or lesson. We also compared different versions of fables like the original The Boy Who Cried Wolf with  a Japanese version with goats, dumplings and mountains. We also read the stories of Cinderella from Egypt, Native Americans and China. Students worked in small groups to complete reader's theaters of Aesop Fables.

Our habitat for the week was the arctic. Next week, we will begin to start our at-school habitat poster project. After reading our Scholastic News magazine on rotting pumpkins, we conducted an experiment. We took two pieces of pumpkin, one the control piece and the other the experimental piece. To the experimental piece, we added hand sanitizer. Now, we are making observations to see which pieces rots first. Our prediction was the hand sanitizer one. We will see!

Thanks!
