Today Magic Gives Back visited Redwood to share information with the kids about an exciting event in February! This event is hosted by Piper’s Legacy, which is a local organization dedicated to supporting promising Ewing’s sarcoma research. This amazing illusionist show is perfect for all ages and will be held at Magnificat High School on Saturday, February 16 @ 7:00pm. Students are bringing home a Topic 8 Reteaching sheet. We completed our 2nd of 3rd time lesson. Students have practiced telling time to the 5 minute and reading time like half past and quarter to. Tuesday's lesson will be on a.m. and p.m. Please have reteaching back by Thursday, January 24th. We will have the assessment on Friday the 25th.
For the beginning of our opinion writing instruction, students completed book reviews. The book reviews included a 5 star rating, a summary and their favorite part. The grammar skills of the week was the verb have its tenses of have, had and has. Students loved our stories this week with th essential question How do you express yourself? One story was all about the P.S. 22 Chorus. Here is a link to their YouTube channel. We also practiced main idea and key details using a story about how all people including the deaf can enjoy music. In FUNdations, students practiced the vowel-consonant-e syllable where the first vowel is long and the e is silent.
