Happy 2019!

We are getting back into the swing of things! Students are working hard to prepare for the Wax Museum. They are nervous and excited to be able to share their research  on their individual. Here is some important information to know as the date approaches:
* The museum will "open" at 6:30 and "close" around 7:10. Students are to arrive between 6:15-6:25. They are to report to their classroom. Guests are to wait at the door until the museum opens.
* Students need to arrive IN their costumes. No face paint.
More information regarding the location & entrance for our class will be emailed out next week. Thank you for helping with the costumes. This night will be a special memory.

Topic 8 is Working With Time & Money. This is a short unit with only 5 lessons on each skill. As these are both life skills, students needs to be confident and secure. Please reinforce these skills at home. in this topic, students are learning to write and tell time to the nearest 5 minutes using a.m. and p.m. Also identifying the value of coins and bills and finding the total value of a collection of coins and bills. The topic 8 assessment is currently planned for the the week of the 21st with a review coming home beforehand.

Students have learned about verb tenses. Past verbs end with -ed, present verbs end with -s and -ing and future verbs end with the word will.  In FUNdations, the syllable of vowel-consonant- e was practiced. The silent e comes at the end of the syllable which makes the first vowel long. Our stories this week were all about how weather affects us. And what a week for wild weather with a thunderstorm in January. Students were really interested in this topic and we will come back to it in the 4th quarter as part of our science unit. In writing, students completed their final how to writing on how to make a snowman.

Upcoming Dates:
No School on Monday the 21st
COSI is on the 30th
Wax Museum @ 6:30 on the 31st

Thanks,
