The Wax Museum was a night that we will all remember! The costumes brought the historical individuals to life! I am so proud of everyone's hard work! On Thursday, we will exchange cards for Valentine's Day. There are 23 students in the class.
We will be spending the next month in our science unit of Force & Motion. Students will learn that motion can increase, change direction or stop
depending on the force applied. Also that a change in motion of an object is related to
the size of the force.
Some forces act without touching, such as using
a magnet to move an object or objects falling to
the ground. We will be visiting the ALPL on Wednesday, March 6th.
We are working our way through Topic 9- Numbers to 1,00 with place value. This week we learned the different forms of numbers- standard (146), expanded (100 + 40 + 6) and word form (one hundred forty-six). As of now, the test will most likely be on Wednesday the 20th with the review coming home next week. I'll email you to keep you up to date as we get closer.
Our stories for the week were all about how the world is different. The skill used to teach alike and differences was compare & contrast. A venn diagram was used. The grammar skill was linking verbs. In FUNdations, we are starting Topic 7- Open Syllables. Open syllables have only one vowel and no consonant after it. Open syllables can be combined with other syllables like in the words pretend and provide. The trick words for the unit are eight, large, change, city, every & family.
